Harvest progress

Shiraz is in, Cabernet Sauvignon is promisingly of good quality with small berries and full of flavor. Only the Ruby Cabernet is left to harvest the the cycle can begin again. Only in a few professions does one realize the passage of time and season so directly then in farming. Battling to keep the grass green and being aware of the ever increasing risk of "veld fires" is at this time of the year. Every time we hear the sound of a helicopter the look is up to see if it carries a water sack underneath - being a strong indication of a fire near by. - so far -- relieve no fires around this year, at least in our valley.
