Late yesterday a new baby alpaka was born. The photo shows it 1 hour after birth. Its a boy and named "Einstein". It took the kria (baby alpakas are called kria)almost an hour to find his mothers teats and he was staggering around her from all directions while we were sitting nearby in the grass watching his efforts and cheering when he came close or murmur when he failed again. It is always exciting to watch the birth and the immediate efforts of the krias with their disproportionate skinny long legs staggering like Bambi and eventually having all four legs spread out while the body is swaying backwards and forwards.
